The Gate of Heaven | Genesis 28:10-22
As Jacob ran from his father’s home, bound for Haran, the Lord appeared to him in a dream at the top of an angel-filled stairway. There the Lord reaffirmed the Abrahamic promises and further promised to bless and protect Jacob. Upon waking Jacob fearfully acknowledged God’s presence and then at dawn set up the stone as a memorial, named the place Bethel, and vowed that, if God did indeed bless and protect him, he would worship him in that place. In this study we learn that God begins at my point of need with His grace which must elicit a response.

- God’s gracious encounter (vv. 12-15)
- Jacob’s awe-struck response (vv. 16-22)
