The Bones That Still Speak | Genesis 50:22-26

The notice of Joseph’s death brings the book of Genesis to conclusion. The heart of this brief scene, Joseph’s final speech, reaffirms his belief that God would be true to his promise and visit the people of Israel and bring them to the Promised Land just as He had said. This is confirmed as Joseph repeats his father’s demand that the children swear an oath to bury him ultimately in the Promised Land. Joseph died at the ripe age of 110 a very blessed man, having seen his great-grandchildren. In this study we learn that a life that is truly successful is one that is lived by faith in full trust of God’s promises, no matter how long the wait and how difficult the road.

  1.  Joseph’s bones speak of MORTALITY: Death will come to all (v. 22-24a, 26)
  2. Joseph’s bones speak of PROMISE: God’s visitation is certain (vv. 24b-25)
  3. Joseph’s bones speak of PATIENCE: Patiently wait by faith
