God is a promise making, promise keeping God, therefore we can trust Him with our souls.
It was this truth about God that Paul declared to the Jews in Antioch, Pisidia, that allowed Him to declare the fulfilled promise of God’s salvation in Christ. In this first recorded sermon Paul reminds them that God promised His people Israel a Saviour from David’s line. The Lord Jesus was the fulfillment of this promise as seen in His death and resurrection, witnessed by many. Paul closes his message with a call to apply this good news by believing on Jesus for the forgiveness of sins. The message is divided as follows:
- God’s Promise Given (vv. 16-25)
- God’s Promise Kept (vv. 26-39)
- God’s Promise Applied (vv. 39-41)
