Meekness Part 1: Having the Humility to Ask for Help | Matthew 11:25-30
In Matthew 11:25–30, the Lord Jesus gives a gospel invitation, promising help for our greatest need—the need to come to Christ and find rest in His saving work. Before we come to Christ, God must first graciously reveal to us our great neediness and the sufficiency of Christ as our Saviour. Those who come to Christ do three things:
(1) they put their faith in His power and His desire to save them,
(2) they ask for His help, and
(3) they repent of their sins and submit to His teaching.
For Christians, asking for help is as basic as breathing. Therefore, we ask Christ for help with all our needs, and we also ask each other for help in our local church.
- Our utter neediness (vv25-27)
- God’s kind desire (vv28-30)
- We should ask Christ for help
- Application 1: Ask for Christ’s help with your needs
- Application 2: Let’s share our needs with each other
