Living Ready: Christ is Coming | 1 Peter 4:7-11
The pressures faced by the church may be considerable and could easily lead to despair before God, friction within the fellowship and selfish behaviour. To counter these natural tendencies Peter closes this section, which began at 2:11, with a call for the church family to pray, love and serve. They are to pray, aware of Christ’s pending return. They are to stretch themselves in love for one another. And they are to revive and strengthen one another as they use their gifts in word and deed. In this message we learn that since Christ’s return is imminent, believers should glorify God by devoting themselves to conscious prayer, constant love and spiritual service.
- Be conscious in prayer (v. 7)
- Be constant in love (vv. 8-9)
- Be active in service (vv. 10-11)
