Would you believe a prayer meeting could change the course of human history? That is what happened in Acts 13. As the church of Antioch sought the Lord in worship, prayer and fasting, the Holy Spirit authenticated the missionary work of Paul and Barnabas and the church sent them out. This action started the major geographical movement of the gospel throughout the Roman Empire through the proclamation of the word of God. What drove the church at Antioch to seek the Lord was Godly discontent for the glory of God. We learn four characteristics that define the godly discontent:
- The Godly discontented person pursues God by fasting and prayer (vv. 1-2a)
- The Godly discontented person is submissive to the Spirit despite the cost (vv. 2b-3)
- The Godly discontented person must expect opposition (vv. 4-8)
- The Godly discontented person will find satisfaction (vv. 9-12)
