A Covenant of Peace | Genesis 31:17-55
After Laban heard that Jacob had fled to return to Canaan he pursued him with the intention of harm. However, God intervened and warned Laban not to speak, neither good nor bad, to Jacob. When Laban confronted Jacob he questioned why he stole his gods. After Laban was not able to find the stolen gods, Jacob replied angrily before the two men made a covenant of peace, promising not to harm the other. In this study we learn that since God has made peace with us in Christ, we can have genuine, rather than superficial, peace with others.
- Peace broken (vv. 17-42)
- Peace patched (vv. 43-55)
- Peace secured (Col 1:15-23)
