What happens to people when they die?
It is always a sad thing when a person dies. It is especially sad with an unbeliever dies. When a person who is not forgiven of their sins dies their soul will be sent to punishment while they wait for the final judgment. When a believer dies their soul goes to Heaven to be with God and their body waits to be resurrected. They will receive their new body when Jesus comes back to earth.
Will Jesus come back?
Earlier on we learnt that Jesus came into the world to save sinners (1 Tim. 1:15). As we read the Bible, we also learn that He promised to come back one day (John 14:3). He will come back the same way He left the world (Acts 1:11). We are all to expect Him to return one day and this should cause us to be holy and obedient while we wait (2 Pet. 3:11). For those who love the Lord Jesus Christ this is very exciting!
What will Jesus do when He comes back?
When Jesus returns He will gather up all His people and they will be with Him forever (1 Thess. 4:17). He will judge all of His enemies (including the Devil) and He will be King of kings and Lord of lords. He will judge all people who are not forgiven (Matt. 25:41) and those who are forgiven will enjoy Him forever in Heaven (Matt. 25:34).
What is Heaven?
Heaven is the most amazing place you could ever think of. The Bible tells us lots of things about Heaven and gives it different names like, “Paradise” (Luke 23:43; 2 Cor. 12:2, 4; Rev. 2:7), a “heavenly country” (Hebrews 11:14-16), and a “kingdom” (Eph. 5:5). Here are some reasons why it is the most amazing place: (1) God is there (Rev. 21:3), (2) there will be no more sin (21:4-5), and (3) we will be with God’s people forever (1 Thess. 2:19). Heaven is an amazing place to look forward to.
What is Hell?
Hell is a real place created by God for the purpose of punishing all those who are not forgiven of their sins (Matt. 25:41). The Lord Jesus Christ described it as a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12), a fiery furnace (Matt. 13:42), outer darkness (Matt. 22:13), fire that doesn’t stop burning (Mark 9:48) and punishment that lasts forever (Matt. 25:46). Hell is a horrible and real place. Hell was “prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matt. 25:41) and will be the place of all who are not saved (Rev. 20:15).
