Johan Ferreira grew up in South Africa and immigrated to Australia with his family when he was a teenager. He grew up in the Reformed Church and became a Christian when he was still in South Africa. He then studied at the Reformed Theological College in Geelong, the University of Queensland in Brisbane, the University of New England in Armidale, and Princeton Theological Seminary in the US. He subsequently served in the Reformed Churches of Australia and then also as a pastor and elder in the Christian and Missionary Alliance of Australia. Johan taught at several theological institutions and universities for around 30 years. Johan is also the director of Eric Liddell Institute (ELI) which seeks to emulate the example of Eric Liddell in the fields of education, theological training and humanitarian assistance. Johan is married to DeGuang, and they have two adult children and three grandchildren.
