We are at War: Be Praying | Ephesians 6:18-20

As we close out our study on spiritual warfare it is no coincidence that the Apostle Paul moves seamlessly from being strong in the Lord by putting on the armour of God to praying, because these two elements belong to and are dependent upon each other. Prayer is the means by which the Christian is enabled to appropriate the armour and wield the sword. No matter how strong or talented we may think we are, we cannot stand against the power of evil’s forces otherwise. We must know that a life of dependence on God in prayer is essential if we are to effectively stand firm in warfare and deploy all our spiritual weapons.

  1. Continual prayer (v. 18a)
  2. Spirit-directed prayer (v. 18b)
  3. Varied prayer (v. 18c)
  4. Persevering prayer (v. 18d)
  5. Intercessory prayer (vv. 18e-20)
