With age comes responsibility, and the responsibility to grow in maturity. This is not only the expectation in the world, but is also presented in scripture (Heb 5:11-12; 1 Cor 13:11). The longer we walk with the Lord, the greater the expectation to grow in the Lord. In this study in Proverbs 6 the father presents the son with three hazards that he must avoid if he is to take up his responsibility and grow in maturity. In the message we learn that wisdom not only directs us in what is wise, but also in what to avoid. On the path of righteousness, we are to avoid foolish risk, laziness, and sowing discord.
- Avoid foolish risk (vv. 1-5)
- Avoid laziness (vv. 6-15)
- Avoid sowing discord (vv. 12-19)
