The Dwelling Place of God

The Dwelling Place of God

The Apostle Paul closes out this section of Scripture by providing three graphic metaphors that describe the transformation that the believer now receives in Christ. Previously Paul had stated that we were alienated from God (vv. 11-12) until Christ reconciled us to God by His blood (v. 13). And with this reconciliation came a new sphere of living. Paul explains that instead of being alienated from God we are now citizens of God’s kingdom, members of God’s family and living stones of God’s temple, where He is pleased to dwell. In this study we learn that Christians must know and value their place in the church for it is God’s kingdom, God’s family, and God’s temple, where God lives.

  1. Citizens of God’s Kingdom (v. 19a)
  2. Members of God’s family (v. 19b)
  3. Living stones of God’s Temple (vv. 20-22)
