Extreme Diligence, Extreme Reliance | Acts 16:1-5

On Sunday, 22 October, JF concludes the HBC 2023 Missions Conference with Session 4 of the weekend, titled ‘Extreme Diligence, Extreme Reliance’ from Acts 16:1-5.

Gospel advance is characterized by extreme diligence and extreme reliance.

  • “I worked harder than them all!”
  • “Yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me”: 1 Corinthians 15:10

We Make Disciples (The Gospel changes lives)

  • To the degree you are relying on the Gospel to regularly change your own heart, you will rely on that same power to change others

We Make Plans (God directs our steps)

  • ‘Hold the steering wheel loosely.”

We Speak the Word (God opens hearts)

  • “And they went…having been forbidden… to speak the word…” (v. 6)
  • “…concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” (v 10)
  • “proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance” (28:31)
  • Wherever God leads you, lead with the Word.
  • See where your role ends and God’s role continues.
