Christ our Peace

Christ our Peace

Christ our Peace | Ephesians 2:13-18

Verses 11-18 contrast the former godlessness of the Gentiles and their exclusion from the people of God with their new experience of closeness to God and inclusion in His people. This change has taken place on the basis of Jesus’ death on the cross, which resulted in the abrogation of the Mosaic covenant and the creation of a new people of God. We learn that this new humanity enjoys a relationship of peace with God and peace with one another, especially between Jews and Gentiles. In this lesson we learn that through the cross Christ has secured true and lasting peace with God and each other.

  1. Christ is the source of peace (v14a)
  2. Christ has secured peace (vv. 14b-16)
  3. Christ now preaches peace to all (v17)
