Fighting Our Fear

Fighting Our Fear

Isaiah 41:8 – “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious hand”

As I read this verse I couldn’t help but feel God’s peace radiating through me! How blessed are God’s children to have Jesus looking over them. This verse alone gives those who seek refuge in the Lord strength, hope, victory and no reason to be afraid any more.

Know That God is Faithful

Rom 8:31 says that if God is for us, than who can be against us? By our salvation through faith in our Jesus, God is for us. Therefore who can beagainst us! We are able to walk this life victoriously because Jesus has won the war for us. We have no need to be afraid about what’s around the corner because in all things God is working for our good according to His purpose (Rom 8:28). He will direct us on the best path to travel (Ps 32:8). Travelling God’s path for us requires us to exercise our faith in Him. A Christian’s faith in God is not based on what we see with our eyes, but trusting in the character, love and faithfulness of our Lord. If we knew what we were to receive, where’s the faith in that? All we need to know is that God is faithful and will give us what we need to live for Him and experience eternal security and peace. There is no greater hope than living a life for Jesus.

Freedom From Fear

This has been a lesson that God has really tested me with. I don’t know what’s around the corner, but I do know that God loves me and is working in all things for my best and for His glory. I have no reason to allow the bondages of anxiety, self-pity and fear to entrap me. I have freedom from all fears through my relationship with Jesus, as all Christians do! We may not always understand the circumstances but we do know that God is for us if we trust in Him. So let’s not be afraid any more, but walk confidently knowing our Lord is with us! He will strengthen us. He will help us. He will uphold us with His victorious hand. To believe otherwise is to be lacking in faith and allowing Satan to tie you down with the chains of this world. He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4)!

Live Victoriously Through Jesus

What do you need to surrender to God? What are we allowing to cause you to be anxious or fearful? What bondages are holding you down, not allowing you to experience the freedom that Jesus has given you? Let’s throw off those chains of torment, anguish and bitterness and live victoriously and joyously through our faith in Jesus!

Thanks for the link Daniel. I like how it’s noted that worry is a symptom, not a sickness. To say we won’t worry or won’t be afraid is unrealistic and being completely naive and ignorant of our humanity. However what we choose to do with worry and other emotions, will reflect to ourselves and others whether we are allowing God to be at the driver’s seat of our lives or not. Our emotions are God-given gifts to help us be aware of what is going on within our hearts and minds, both positive and negative. True courage is trusting and obeying in God despite our fear, not the absence of fear to begin with. That’s faith in action based on trusting in God’s faithfulness and not letting our insecurities dictate our decisions and actions.

Stuart – fear or worry are so not of God – it displays insecurity and a lack of trust in God’s ability or willingness to be personally involved in our lives. Because God is sovereign and in control, Christians can entrust all their difficulties to him, who rules over all creation and who is wise and loving in all his ways Philippians 4: 6-7.

Daniel, thanks for the link to your post on this topic – great post!
